Rafting the Upper Pigeon River
with Outdoor Adventures, Inc.

This exciting 2-hour guided whitewater rafting trip through the beautiful Smoky Mountains is perfect for groups, families, and couples with no experience or wanting to add to their whitewater stories! Minimum age is 8 yrs old. Expect to get soaking wet and have lots of fun! Our guides pride themselves on our safety training and record as well as their ability to entertain you with our stories and humor while navigating you through class III-IV rapids and experience what rafting is about.

While you’re here, enjoy our riverside outpost with a picnic or playing games with your group.

Trip Schedules: The Pigeon River is a dam controlled river, therefore we have guaranteed days from May to September determined by Progress Energy.

RAFTING DAYS are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

TRIP TIMES are 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:30pm, and 5:00pm. We ask you to arrive 30 minutes prior to your trip time to give you time to check in and change if needed.

Although these are the guaranteed days, we raft many other days as well. Please call to check for availability. Spring is always a great time to raft because regular rainfall makes great whitewater!!

Rafting Trips...

The UPPER PIGEON is an exciting 2 hour whitewater trip with continuous class III-IV rapids. This fully guided trip is perfect for groups with beginners or intermediate paddlers. Minimum age is 8 years old or 70 lbs.

The LOWER PIGEON is a fun 2 hour rafting experience for people who aren’t quite ready for big whitewater but enjoy the outdoors. Children as young as 3 years old are welcomed on this mild introductory whitewater trip. We’ll have fun splashing and swimming if you like or just relaxing in the boat.

The RUSSELL FORK in Eastern Kentucky is in the Breaks Interstate Park and offers rafting trips to a variety of experience levels. The Upper and Lower sections are great for first timers. The gorge section is for the adrenaline seekers who already have class IV-V whitewater experience and want the ride everyone talks about. The best whitewater on the east coast is on the Russell Fork Gorge!
